Things God can’t do! That statement seems out of place shortly after we celebrated the impossible happening, the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, the greatest can-do event in our faith story. Things God can’t do! Those words sound contrary to the Easter hope that God can and does roll away the stone that locked us in a tomb of despair and emptiness. Things God can’t do! That claim appears inconsistent with the message echoing in the accounts of Jesus’ birth, ministry, death, and resurrection.
God is the personal
Creator worthy of human worship because of His holy nature and His perfect love
revealed in creating the universe, electing and redeeming His people, and
proving eternal salvation through His Son Jesus Christ. He is Omni potent,
Omniscient , Omnipresent, He is
sufficient, He lives by Himself, Alpha and Omega, He is not limited and with
Him all things are possible.
When we consider God, a
being that is almighty who created everything that existed we don't usually
think that there are things God cannot do. There are many things man can’t do,
but there are also things God can’t do. That’s right, God can’t do all things.
It is not because He is unable to, that He is limited in power in any way. It
is because of who He is in nature. There are guidelines that even God cannot
step over.
_God
cannot lie
It is impossible for God to lie. Can God make
two plus two equal six? It is impossible for God to lie, so he is consistent
with truth which has absolutes. His standard of right and wrong does not
change.
He can’t lie equally means He can’t break an unconditional
promise what he says he will fulfil. He is the truth, there is no darkness in
him. He cannot go back on His Word. (See Heb.6:18)
When he told Abraham to
take his only son and put him on the altar, Abraham knew that if God allowed
him to have Isaac killed he would have had to raise him up back to life. This
is because he already promised Abraham that through Isaac the promises of his
Covenant would come.
God can never send
another flood over the whole earth like he did in Noah's day. It`s not that he
doesn't have the ability, He can’t do it because He promised He never would do
it again (the rainbow is there to remind us of this truth). God’s nature is inclined
to truth which means He keeps His promises.
No matter what your issue
is, know that the promise of God is yes and Amen. Whatever God said about you ,
will definitely come to pass.
_God
Can`t stop being God or stop existing
The nature of God is
infinite meaning no end. God's unchanging moral character is a moral
absolute. This includes holiness, justice, love, mercy and truth.
God is who He is forever and is the only constant being in the universe. Only created things
subject to time and space which are of a non eternal substance can change. God
could not change if he wanted to (which he would not ) Because he is the
highest and ultimate state of perfection. Words fail to describe at this point
the state God is in.
He is not free to act contrary to his nature
that is permanent. Does this mean He is not all powerful? No- it means that as
a perfect and unchangeable being His commands and actions are rooted in
the ultimate good which flow from his nature. God's moral character does not
change. "I the Lord change not "(Mal.3:6)
There is no shadow of change with God (See James.1:17).
His nature is
eternal. He cannot say tomorrow I’ll act like the devil for a while or sin as
man does. What God has been, He will always be, (the I Am). He is completely
self sufficient within himself.
No matter what you go
through, know that He is God, and He will never stop being Who He is by
Himself. He is God over your situation!
_God
cannot be unrighteous
When God does something,
it is not right because He did it. It is right because it is right. It is
not good because God chose it, therefore it must be good! God chose it because
it is good, God wills it because it is good, it’s not good simply because he
wills it or chose it to be. God is not arbitrary or capricious. He knows
the greater good because he possesses all knowledge. All of nature shows
this to be true. Order is of the greater design and objective, chaos is not. To
preserve life is the greater good, to take life is not, (exceptions are the
rarity). This is because all flow from His moral nature. So while God is
all powerful he cannot act or think contrary to his perfect eternal unlimited
nature, which is the ultimate moral good.
Isn't good to know there
is a being in charge of the whole universe who is perfect in his judgments and
choices, keeps His promises and never does wrong? That should be a comfort for
those who are for him instead of against him.
_God cannot justify sinners by any
other means than the shedding of blood unto death of His Son
“without shedding of
blood is no remission,” Hebrews 9:22. To say that God can or would declare
sinners righteous on any other ground than the death of His Son is to make Him
a liar and to dwell in a refuge of lies, Isaiah 28:17.
The Lord Jesus will have every one for whom He
died because the just result of His death before God is the redemption,
justification, sanctification, and adoption of His people,(See 1 Corinthians
1:30.) “Justice cannot twice demand,
first at my Surety’s hand and then again at mine.”
_God cannot fail to do all that He
has decreed and promised
Declaring the end from
the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying,
My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure,(See Isaiah 46:10). He
will have everyone that He chose in Christ, redeemed by Christ, and consequently
draws to Christ by His Spirit, through the Gospel,(See 2 Thessalonians 2:13).
He gave to Abraham the promise to become the
father of many nation, and it came to pass.
He promised from the
beginning with Adam and Eve that the seed of the woman shall bruise the head
of the serpent. He declared salvation
and redemption even before time, and came to pass through His Son Jesus Christ Who
die for us on the cross.
He said, I will die, but
arise from the dead on the third day, and it exactly happen the same.
He said in the last day, He will pour out of His Spirit and this promised was accomplished on the day of Pentecost. ( see Acts 2). Well, He is God and He does not fail in His promises. Whatever He speaks happens always.
_God cannot give His glory to another
One thing we find within
God`s characteristic is jealousy . Whatever He does, He does for Himself and
the glory of His name. He cannot share His
glory with human beings or any sort of physical or spiritual object on
earth, in heaven and under the earth.
“For mine own sake, even for mine own sake,
will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory
unto another,” Isaiah 48:11.
Any doctrine that would give man any part or
credit in his salvation is not of God.
If God said, he will bless you, He will surely do it. You don`t have to try to help God to fulfil His plans for your life. He is self-sufficient and capable of fulfilling His promises in your life. He will not allow any human being to take credit from what He does.
_God cannot condemn any for whom
Christ died for
“Who is he that
condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is
even at the right hand of god, who also maketh intercession for us”
Romans 8:34 KJV).
It is impossible for God to reverse His promises about His people. God is a covenant keeper. He says, those you have been washed through the blood of Jesus and sanctified by the Word of truth should never be condemned. No matter wrong you have done, and no matter how far you have gone astray, He is more than able to forgive you from all your sins and His blood is available to make you as white as snow.
_God cannot give up on His Word
The hardness of men’s hearts, unbelief, and rebellion are no obstacle for God – “With men this is impossible ;but with God all things are possible,” (Matthew 19:26). Yet, we must not falsely assume from this that God can or will do anything to save sinners. Yes, He is sovereign, but the Bible teaches us that there are things that it is impossible for God to do. God cannot give up on His word. As it is written: “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent,”( Numbers 23:19).
_God
cannot change
"Oh, sure,"
"I believe that God cannot change." This is also a rather obvious
truth. God tells us in His Word, in Malachi 3:6, "I am the Lord, I do
not change." This is another characteristic which is unique to God
alone. He is unique in nature, in power, in glory, in ability, in wisdom in counsel and in everything. Incomparable
and unchangeable.
Times and seasons may
change, but He remains the same. Situations come along and go away, but His word cannot be denied.
He is been the same from the beginning and created all things by His omnipotent
and infallible word. Whatever He says is manifest.
, one generation comes
and go and another one emerges. World leaders appear and vanish. But He remains
the same yesterday today and forevermore!
_God
Cannot Forget His promises
The foundation of God`s
word abides forever. He declared that the children of Israel should dwell in
the a foreign land and after four hundred years they should come out of
slavery, this prophesy was fulfilled. What He preordained about his people, He
fulfilled through His servant Moses.
The bible says
“Blessed be the Lord, who
has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. There has not failed one
word of all His good. Which He promised, which He promised through His servant
Moses”( 1 Kings 8:56)
He promised that He will
save his people from sin, this promised was fulfilled also through Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.
He promised that He will
come back one day and rapture His
Church, this promise will be fulfilled because His faithful to His word.
If He said He will bless
you, His world will definitely come to pass. Whatever He says, always happen.
He will never forget about His promises.
Even though we may forget
what God has promised He will always remember!
_God cannot deny Himself
The issues of our lives
cannot cause God to deny Himself. He is undeniable and infallible .
God will not change
because of circumstances, times or seasons; Do not think God has changed because you have not
received answer for your prayers yet. Do not believe He is no longer with
you.
He is still with you in spite of the realities
of life. He will never deny Himself. Your situations will never change His
personality. He is who He is by Himself. He lives by Himself and He is self-dependant.
God will never deny what
He already say about you. This is not the nature of His kind. He is loving,
caring and faithful to all that put their trust in Him.
Even when we are unfaithful, He remains faithful because He cannot deny Himself.“ if we are faithless and are untrue to Him, He remains true (faithful to His Word and His righteous character), for he cannot deny Himself.” 2Timothy 2:13 AMPV.
_God cannot forsake you
Go ye therefore, and
teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and the Holy Spirit:
Teaching them to observe
all things whatever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always even,
unto the end of the world. Amen ( Matthew 28:19)
Jesus however wasn`t
ignorant of the fact that opposing forces in the earth would try to stop us
from carrying out His instructions of teaching the people of the world how to
live the triumphant life. He knew the devil and his demons would try to stand in
our way, He knew that persecution will come. Sickness will try to suffocate our
faith. He knew that we were going to face rejection. Oh, He knew that we we`re
going to have some financial difficulties, that`s why He quickly assured us of
His abiding presence by saying:” lo, I am with you always, even unto the end
of the world “ (Matthew 28:20)
Notice He didn`t say,
I`ll be with you”; rather He said, “ I am with you,” it`s not a promise; it`s a
fact; it`s real even now. You`re not alone! His presence with you and in you
brings the miraculous and guarantees your victory.
Do not be afraid, only
believe, He is with you right now to deliver you from all your troubles. Exodus
33:14 says: “My Presence will be with you, and I will give you rest."
_God cannot put you to shame
God is God of glory. In Him there is no portion of
shame. He will never allow His children to be covered with shame. He changed a
group of slaves in Egypt into a great
army of God. He separated the ocean into part for them to pass over. He
confounded the mind of pharaoh. He raised His only begotten Son from death
because He could not allow His beloved one to see corruption.
He who called
Lazarus death ” sleep”, even though Lazarus died already.
He who went up to the tomb where his body was laid, and raised him up from the
dead.
He didn`t forget His own
Son either when He was on the cross of Calvary. And despite Jesus Cried out “
My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”
He showed his faithfulness, love
and glory, by raising Him up from the dead on the third
day.
God will never put you
into shame. He never forsakes those whose hearts are loyal to Him, those who diligently seek
Him.
The bible says: “ Fear not for you shall not be ashamed;
neither be confounded, for you shall not be put to shame. For you shall forget
the shame of your youth, and shall not remember the reproach of your widowhood
anymore”. (Isaiah 54:4 AMPV)
_ God cannot let His name down
The name of the Lord
is above every names. God`s name is
precious, wonderful and powerful. The bible says:“ wherefore God has highly exalted Him, and
given Him a name which is above every other names: that at the name of Jesus,
every knees should bow of things in heaven, and things in the earth, and things
under the earth; and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to
the Glory of God the Father.” (
Philippians 2:9-10 KJV)
God does everything for
the Glory of His holy name. He is faithful unto His name for everlasting. Men`s
names shall fall down, but His name remains forever. Whatever He declares in
His name, He does it.
The Psalmist said: “
His name shall endure forever; His name
shall continue as long as the sun. And men shall be blessed and blessed
themselves by Him; all nations shall call Him blessed!
Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, Who alone
does wondrous things!
Blessed be His glorious
name forever; let the whole earth be filled with His glory! Amen and Amen. (
Psalm 72: 17-19 AMPV).
_God cannot break his Covenant
God is a covenant keeper. He keeps His covenant with His
people for everlasting. He has made His covenant with His elected ones for
everlasting and He will always honour
the promises of His word unto them.
The Lord said: “ If you walk in my statutes and keep my
commandments and do them, I will give you rain in due season, and the land
shall yield her increase and the trees of the field yield their fruit. And your
threshing time shall reach to the
vintage time and the vintage time shall reach to the sowing time, and you shall
eat your bread to the full and dwell in your land securely. I will give peace
in the land; you shall lie down and none shall fill you with dread or make you
afraid; and I will clear ferocious beast out of the land.
And you shall chase your
enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. Five of you shall chase a
hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies
shall before you by the sword.
For I will be leaning toward
you with favor and regard for you , rendering you fruitful, multiplying you,
and establishing and ratifying my covenant with you. And you shall eat the
abundant old store of produce long kept, and clear out the old to make room for
the new. I will set my dwelling in and among you, and my soul shall not despise
or reject or separate itself from you. And I will walk in and with and among
you and will be your God, and you shall be my people.”( Leviticus 26:12 AMPV).
